Amanda and Mlamli’s wedding at The Venue, at Hemingways Casino & Hotel, oozed sophistication and elegance. Amanda looked graceful and beautiful in her off white lace designer wedding dress, with detailed and delicate beading. Lilllies floated in the swimming pool while guests lingered around the poolside, sipping on appetizing welcome drinks. Mlamli was a proud man as he walked down the aisle at the to greet his stunning bride, while guests watched on, keeping themselves cool under white parasols. The Hotel architecture created a breathtaking backdrop against a cloudless, bright blue sky. It felt like we were transported to some exotic location. I felt quite lucky to have witnessed and captured such a glamorous event. I loved the words that were printed on their wedding program which read: “The best of friendship through the years; souls entwined by unselfish love and faith. A love that stood the tests of time; now, a lifetime vow and a lasting commitment with praise and thanksgiving to God and blessings from our beloved parents.”
I asked Amanda how Mlamli proposed to her and this is how it happened, in her words.
“On the 3rd December 2014, we had an appointment to meet at Brown’s Jewellers, because I wanted to show my Lovey the Vintage ring that I absolutely loved, which Browns had recently launched. The appointment was around 5.30pm and I didn’t have much time as I needed to attend my child’s concert. When I arrived I saw my Lovey sitting, relaxing and working on his laptop, as though he was in his office. I was told that someone else had just bought the ring and they couldn’t show it to my Lovey. I was heartbroken and rushed to the door to leave and told them that I would see them once they had another one in store. They all laughed and told me that my Lovey had already bought it. My Lovey went down on his knee and proposed. I was stunned and so excited and happy and replied YES, YES, YES! I will never forget that magic moment.”
Thank you to my friend, Leigh Skinner Tebbutt, for assisting and working hard, running from one event to another on the same day.
